New Blog Address

Since we've exceeded out quota for pictures on this blog, I had to start a new one. It isn't quite ready yet, so when I know the exact address, I'll let you know.  Sorry for the delay of pictures (especially to our Canadian friends) but I'll get right on it! :)

Grandpa's Here!

Last Wednesday, Marcus' Grandpa Schuurman came to town to visit and help Daddy on the bread route.  He's done this for a number of years now and he's our official "stuffing" man.  On the route, he is really good at loading and unloading stuffing and perfectly placing it onto the shelves and displays.  He and Daddy have been working so much that I've gotten very few pictures (so far) but what I do have are semi-in-motion.  Mark has definitely enjoyed his help and Marcus has more than enjoyed the extra fun that Grandpa's provided.  I will try to take more pictures today (Sunday) and in the remaining days while he's here.

Grandpa's Coming to Town

Tomorrow Grandpa is coming to town!  He'll be helping Daddy on the bread route until Thanksgiving Day and we're so excited!  His job specifically is to do the stuffing.  He's done it for a number of years now and already knows what his job is.  And of course, he'll get to spend plenty of time with Marcus.  Every time we ask who's coming tomorrow he screams, "Grandpa!!!"  It's way cute.
So today, Marcus and I are trying to get our house in order, put all the laundry away, and make sure Grandpa's "suite" is ready downstairs.  Even though I've been VERY sick with this pregnancy, the past few days Marcus has been great!  He's played well by himself and overall has started to obey more.  We went through a few weeks where Mark and I couldn't figure out WHAT was going on in his little boy's head.  When we're home he's going pee-pee on his own and the new thing is that he's standing up, "like Daddy!" he says.  He's very impressed with himself over this new feat.  We're still working on the whole pooping in the potty thing but again - by Christmas is the goal. :)
Nonetheless, here are a few pictures to hold you over until the weekend.

Last week, Marcus crawled in bed with me before I got up & went back to sleep!

I got up, got ready, and made all kinds of noise.  He was OUT!

Months of Potty Training

So, we've been potty training Marcus for MONTHS now, and it's getting old.  Basically, Marcus has gone HOURS keeping his diaper dry, so we know he can do it.  It's just a matter now of us being patient with him, continuing to encourage when he does well, and being sure to "make" him go use the bathroom when in public.  If we're home for a while, he LOVES being naked and can pee and poop in the potty WITH EASE.  He tells us when he's going, goes, and then reminds us of his potty treats (gummies).  He still does well with underwear on, but has the occasional accident.  The trouble comes when we go out in public and put him in a diaper.  Pretty much he figures, if he's in a diaper, he might as well use it.  Our fear is pooping in his pants in public.  ICK!  So our "goal" is for Marcus to be fully potty trained by Christmas.  We shall see if that really can happen.  Until then, enjoy these pictures of the pantless wonder. :)

Watching Daddy get into his big box truck last Saturday.

You'd think it was hot outside, but it wasn't at all.

There's underwear under there - I promise.

No mess painting.

He still LOVES reading books.

2 year old photo shoot

A few weeks ago, we took Marcus to the Botanical Gardens at UNCA to have his 2 year old pictures taken.  We were more than pleased with the outcome and hope you enjoy them, too. :)

Marcus' First Trip to the Dentist (and Mark's, too)

This week we took Marcus to the dentist for the first time.  It was virtually Mark's first time as well since he hasn't been there since probably 2000.  Needless to say, it was time.  I went first the model for both my boys how it's not a bad thing.  Then Marcus sat in my lap and was fine until we went backwards.  He screamed his ever-loving face off.  Ultimately, we just want him to get used to going, so it wasn't like they were going to do dental work on him.  We ended up just having the dentist check his teeth to count them, see how they were coming in, and if there were any fluoride deficiencies.   Marcus cried the whole way through, but literally it was over in a matter of seconds.  After Marcus, Mark put on his brave pants and had his turn as well.  And guess what?  He survived, too!  I'm so thankful that we have a sweet dentist and that all three of us went and had our teeth cleaned out.
And since that wasn't very adventurous for some of you, I attached a funny video of Marcus "singing" yesterday while playing with play-doh.  He was saying "Hallelujah" and when I asked him about it, you'll hear him say, "I sing wowd (loud)."  Enjoy!

Fall is Fun in Asheville

Today was a BUSY day to say the least, but it ended on a super fun note.  Marcus and I went to pick Matthew up from pre-school around 5pm and went straight to the Corn Maze.  I took Marcus last year and again this year, it was amazing.  Both the boys had fun together and I had fun watching them.  Here's our story in pictures:

We started off riding the "cow train" pulled by a big tractor.

Marcus sat in my lap and absolutely loved it.

Matthew enjoyed going through the corn maze on our tour.

After the ride, they had to sit still and pose for me to take their pictures.  Such cute little pumpkins!

Next, we took a turn on the Hay Ride.

The corn box was a big hit with these two boys.

They had a little corn-throwing fight.

Then we buried Matthew.

Being silly at another photo opp.

Sweet friends

Matthew going through the hay maze for smaller kids.

Marcus liked following him all around the maze.

Marcus was such a BIG BOY and went down by himself!

These slides were FAST!

Matthew held Marcus' hand and helped him back up the hill each time.  So precious!

I know it's fuzzy, but I thought it was so cute how they went down together!

Matthew shooting the corn cannon.  Marcus didn't like it because it was too loud and scared him.
